Rehearsals are set at $40 per course and are non-negotiable (MJ is $20 for extra rehearsals). Dates are listed below. As show preparation keeps blazing ahead, we'll be preparing a blog for all students to check back on  costume information, rehearsals dates, how to sell tickets etc

Our end of year show preparation is underway and extra class time/rehearsals will be starting in Nov - details will be posted up soon for each class. All classes will need an extra 1-4 hours depending on where you're at in the routine, and costumes/makeup will be set this coming fortnight.  

We'll have all date/ticket details for you this week/next week so you can start selling - there will also be big prizes for the person that sells the most tickets. The prizes are to be announced shortly so watch this space!

We can't wait to get the performances polished and primed, ready for the stage. Help support CanTeen (NZ Teen Cancer Foundation) and practise practise practise!

Get ready for RISE 2010.

This week your tutor is in Melbourne attending dance workshops and checking out the scene, so class wont be on as usual. However, students of the Kingsland MJ GAGA HIPHOPHEELS and PERF BURLESQUE classes can go in of their own accord (at the usual class time) and practise together.  All details are listed up on facebook, so message in to our status if you're going to join Amanda and the crew who will be opening up.

Have fun! Practise hard.

It's been a challenging week for all classes, but dont give up! Even if you're finding the choreography more difficult than usual.  Learning a new dance style is like learning a language. At first it's hard, but the more you immerse yourself in it, the easier it will get. Try to practise your routine at least once a day, if only in your head. Put the song on your ipod and practise at the office, at the bustop, while you're sitting at the traffic lights just in your head!

Remember back to your first class and how hard it was back then. Learning the challenging choreography will be like that. At first difficult, but over time it will just feel like you were born doing it!

Eat well, stay healthy, take your fish oil/Omega 3's daily, stretch after class, load up on vitamin c daily, rehydrate with a powerade and a handful of nuts or cheese on crackers straight after class (within 30-45mins after), EAT BREAKFAST (eggs, bacon, porridge -as it's slow sustaining energy throughout the day- salmon), eat good carbs a couple of hours before class (rice, wholegrain bread), combined with protein (tuna, salmon, red meat, chicken, eggs)...

..and if all that's too much, then at the very least, have porridge or a smoothie in the morning with milk, a banana, and some protein powder (we'll have more on that soon), while snacking on nuts, fruit and fresh vege throughout the day.  Also, make sure you drink lots of water before and during class, and a powerade after. Keep a bag of mixed nuts in your car or bag to have after you finish class.


It will make a huge difference to your energy and concentration. Practise with other students before class to get in the zone, and be confident that you WILL get this choreography!!!

The term is now underway and we have little to no space in all of our classes in preparation for the end of year show (optional for students that are a bit hesitant in getting up on stage - but come along to class to learn the choreography anyway - there's no pressure to perform!). Thanks to everyone who got their enrolments in on time & to all new students who are giving a trial a go - let us know how you go as spaces are limited!

Nutrition information for the V1 students/dancers who are doing a lot of dance per will be posted up soon to help you cope with the physical/athletic demands of doing 3 or more classes/hours of training per week. If you're interested in staying at your mental and physical peak condition, with optimum health, during the training for the show , keep checking back for our tips specifically designed for dancers, from our top instructors. We have Performance Burlesque starting on Wednesdays and the brand new Michael Jackson Dance, Lady Gaga, Hiphop Heels - working towards our end of year show.  Spaces are filling fast already so message us with your details and the class you want to enrol in asap to ensure your place in class.

Just a quick note to say RIP to the legend that was Michael Jackson -- just over a year ago, MJ passed away and it was a sad, sad day for musicians, dancers, creatives and fans worldwide. We love you Michael!!

RISE DVDS are also finally printed and ready for delivery - - if you've ordered one, please send us your address and we'll get it out to you (or your instructor can give it to you in the first week of class).  It showcases the massive talent and hard work put in by everyone...and inspires us to get another one up and running soon!

Day and night dance courses are available so if you want to learn to dance you can enrol in our Hip Hop Dance classes, learn Burlesque dancing, learn to dance with a partner in our Duets Classes, or learn to dance like Michael Jackson in our MJ courses. They're also cheaper than usual (which will only happen twice a year -- see our timetable page for more details). Get in quick, enrolments end March 17th, 2010.

Happy New Year everyone! We're finally back at work after all of the "RISE" show craziness- tying up loose ends and getting ready for a jam-packed 2010!
