2hr Foundation Technique for Camera Workshop - Monday 6 May 7-9PM

$75.00Price

This standalone class is on  7-9pm and runs for 2 hrs.

For new & current students/dancers wanting to build on, improve and create a stronger dance foundation for camera- helping to move them forward in any Auckland Dance Company class and improve performance,  as well as build confidence on camera. This is for you if confidence in front of the camera is lacking, or you feel intimidated being filmed!

Specifically formulated to improve/learn and express character. Recommended for all of our current students to learn foundation and performance techniques for any ADC shoot or class or performance, or alternately to newbies as a one-off fun workshop for the evening with no obligation to join or perform, building on camera skills.

Working with our amazing instructors and experienced editors/camera people who know what they are looking for in the final cut, and what makes a great shot!

All levels welcome, including complete beginners - a great way to ease your way into on camera movement without committing to a dance term, and to learn the base techniques and helpful hints of finding the right look for you, whenever you're in front of a camera.

Learn in a non-intimidating, supportive environment, with great people and low pressure.

Spaces always fill fast, numbers are capped, and run on a first-in, first-served basis.

Please ensure you have read and understood the following Terms & Conditions before signing up to any of our classes.

TERM COURSES

Our term courses generally consist of 8 x 1 hour classes, spanning over 8-weeks (unless otherwise specified). Our goal is to promote evolution, learning and growth; move our dancers towards (optional) performances; work towards goals; and foster dedication and focus, and we have found an 8-week term is best to achieve this.

Please allow a potential 15 minutes crossover period before/after class. We encourage those who are waiting for a class to begin to talk to each other and go over the previous week’s choreography together. This encourages community, and support with your peers. We encourage our students to do their own warm-ups prior to class, so your instructor has the full 50 minutes to teach, and then 10 minutes to polish at the end.

Occasionally we will make available Half-Term Show Intensive courses, which are run over a shorter time period, are show specific and can vary in time and duration. We do not offer casual classes. Classes are open to all levels, including absolute beginners, unless otherwise specified.

Our term courses are run on a first-in, first-served basis and places are limited. Term courses fill fast and bookings for all Auckland Dance Company classes are essential.

TRIAL CLASSES

Trial classes are $28.50/class for new students or those trialling a new dance style with balance payable for those wanting to continue with a course. Trials are not available to students who have already done a course in that style with ADC before.

RAIN/SHINE/PANDEMIC POLICY

Classes run rain, shine, hail, thunderstorm, rugby game, or pandemic! In the event we are in a remote learning environment (e.g. due to the Covid-19 pandemic) we will conduct classes at their usual date and time via Zoom. Zoom links will be sent via normal communication channels in the hour prior to class.

NO SHOWS/ABSENCES

No-shows and class absences will not be refunded. ADC believes in dedication and focus, and all students are responsible for their own attendance and expected to maintain a high level of commitment. If you are unable to make it to a class, notification is required through our website here https://www.aucklanddance.co.nz/absences.

Any requested changes in enrolment will be issued at Management's discretion, and administration fees will apply. Email Anastasia at numbers@aucklanddance.co.nz to submit a request - a $65 administration fee will apply.

COMMUNICATIONS & NOTIFICATIONS

All important class announcements are made via email, Facebook or Instagram (and are messaged to enrolled students only). Please check in the hour before our class to see if there have been any changes.

FEES

All payment of fees to Auckland Dance Company are final.

ZERO-TOLERANCE POLICY

ADC has a zero-tolerance policy on gossip, bullying, harassment, exclusion, back-stabbing and negative discussion.  If we find students to be partaking in any of this, they will be removed from class and no refunds will be given.

We are an open, loving, positive and supportive environment, and we welcome any and all peoples into our community. If you are feeling unsafe before, during or after class, please reach out to any of the ADC team members onsite or via the info@aucklanddance.co.nz, and we will support you!

INJURY POLICY & HEALTH REQUIREMENTS

ADC bears no responsibility for injuries sustained during class. All students understand that they are partaking in a physical activity and will take the necessary personal precautions to protect themselves from injury wherever possible. Our choreographers will do all they can to help make the classes as comfortable as possible for you, should you have injuries, these must be stated clearly prior to each class you attend. We have fantastic osteopaths and acupuncturists who work with the company, should you need help with any prior injuries that we can recommend. Stretching, warming up and down is 100% recommended before and after your class begins/ends to alleviate any potential injury.

CONSENT

Sometimes within classes our tutors/instructors may move or touch you to demonstrate a partnerwork move, a lift, or to direct you into the correct position or location on the floor. Students understand that this is part of being in a dance class and instructors will do what they can to ask permission first. If you do not agree or are uncomfortable with this, please tell us prior to the course beginning, but due to the nature of the classes we cannot guarantee acceptance into the course. ADC pride ourselves in being a safe environment to be in, and all instructors have been police-checked prior to their involvement with the company.

SOCIAL MEDIA, PHONES & VIDEOS

All ADC classes are a phone-free zone, to allow all participants to be present in each class. ADC Choreographers and ADC HQ reserve the right to film for polishing/promotional purposes, and all videos and photography are the intellectual property of ADC.  Filming and distribution of filmed choreography is strictly prohibited unless expressly granted by ADC HQ in writing.  The only exception to this is in the event that photos/videos have already been shared publicly by ADC on our social feeds - in which case, share away!

Restriction of video distribution is to promote learning of the choreography, and discourage complacency. Reliance on videos is highly discouraged across all boards.  Students understand that the classes are not for fame or to appear on media, and videos in class will not be distributed freely due to intellectual property copyright. No videos are to be shared of the classes if a student has been asked to film, and must be deleted from the student's phone or device once ADC have received it and given the word.

PERFORMANCES

All classes may be included in either of our shows or shoots throughout the year. Performance fees will apply for students wishing to participate in performances/events, videos, or in any of our dance showcases. Catch up sessions (if any) are a privilege (not a right), and will be issued at Management's discretion, if at all.
