CLASSES
Auckland Dance Company classes are available to all levels (including complete beginners!), body shapes, ages and fitness levels throughout the year. Including kids, teens, young adults, adults, and kids at heart!
We know that coming to a dance class for the very first time, or returning to dance after a long while, can be daunting. All of our classes are run with this in mind. We teach in a welcoming, supportive environment, run at a comfortable pace (with a little bit of challenge thrown in there for good measure) depending on which class you decide to take. All of our instructors are friendly, approachable, experienced, and there to help (so don't be afraid to ask!).
Dance for us is not just about learning a new skill, or developing and challenging yourself physically - it is something more than that. It's about learning to listen, hear, and feel all of the facets of the music, and express that physically from the inside, out. It's about passing on the passion we feel for each song that we teach, every dance that we choreograph, every photo or video we release, and every class, rehearsal and show, onto each of our students, clients, faculty and supporters. In an age where our society is so digitally connected, but so disconnected personally, our classes are about providing a community, and a dance family - a place for everyone to have fun, meet great people, and be uplifted, weekly. And most of all, to be present in the moment. When you dance, you have no choice but to be present in your body - to switch off all of the daily pressures, the negative self-talk and goings-on in the mind, and to just let that all go...and be free.
For those wanting to challenge themselves, there are also optional performance opportunities for students & professionals alike (see footage of one of our shows here. Our experienced dancers, tutors & choreographers are also available for private & group lessons, corporate functions, flash mobs, wedding dances, team-building events & hen's nights.
